Mimmo Vittorio Cavaiuolo, born December 18, 1981, passed away on May 31, 2020. Mimmo, also known by his friends and family as Mo, and Mimmette, was born in Buffalo, NY to Domenico Cavaiuolo and the late Catherine (Platt) Markiewicz.
Mimmo lived in Lockport with his parents in a log cabin for the first 4 years of his life. Although he has limited memories of this home, he knew that his home was filled with love, family and joy. As a young boy, he loved to run around his back yard with Bucky his favorite dog.
As a child/young man, Mimmo moved several times, from Lockport to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Syracuse, California and finally back to Whitehall, PA. Wherever he moved, he knew his family, which include those living in Italy, would always be there for him. After a trip to Italy, he reconnected with his cousins and remained close to him throughout his lifetime. He loved the life of an “Italian”, which meant family and traditions.
Mimmo was raised in an Italian environment, knowing that each of his family members, his father, step-mother, aunts, uncles, cousins, brother and sister, all loved him. He loved the Italian traditions that were instilled in him. His favorite holiday was Christmas, especially the tradition of the Seven Fish Dinner extravaganza on Christmas Eve and making Ravioli on Christmas day. Those family events and traditions meant the world to Mimmo. Mimmo appreciated the importance of family for which he wanted for himself someday. In March of 2018, he became a father to the love of his life, Vanessa Catherine Cavaiuolo.
In addition to his Italian heritage, he also enjoyed being part Native American (his Grandmother was 100% Native American). He also had many aunts, uncles, and cousins on his mother’s side of the family who he cherished and missed very much.
Throughout his life Mimmo would make many friends, all of whom will miss him. His friends would say that Mimmo was encouraging as they tried to overcome their challenges; If he could help you, he would. He was known by all for having a loving, kind and compassionate heart.
Mimmo enjoyed all kinds of sports. He loved college football; his favorite teams being the Temple Owls, but especially the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He was also a diehard Buffalo Bills and New York Mets fan. He posted in 2013 how much he loved attending a Notre Dame Game in South Bend with his sister Katie, his brother Carlo and his father Domenico. The game was Temple vs. Notre Dame. Mimmo also had a passion for cars and cooking; he tried his hand in both.
Mimmo leaves behind many friends and family members that love and will miss him. His father Domenico Cavaiuolo, Step-mother Debra Cavaiuolo, sister Kathryn McCormick, his brother Carlo Cavaiuolo, his step-sister Devin Mackay, his step brother Austin Mackay, his girlfriend of 5 years Rebecca Schmoyer along with her son Jayden. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins, here in the US and in Italy. Most importantly he leaves behind his Daughter Vanessa Cavaiuolo, whom he loved with all his heart. A Funeral mass will be held at St. John’s Church in Lockport, NY on July 18th at noon for family and a select few friends.
